Server

Backup any .mei and .mcl files that you have in your Monitor-Enterprise folder

Go to auto imports within Enterprise and note their properties and locations

Uninstall Monitor-Enterprise

Run Monitor-MP-5 setup programme

Choose custom setup type

De-select ‘MDAC 2.8’, ‘MSDE’ and ‘SQL Dmo’

Go through the rest of the setup with the default settings for Monitor Pro

The second install component is for Crystal Reports runtime so accept all the default options on this install

Once all the programs have been installed, copy the .mei and .mcl files to C:\Program Files\Monitor Pro\Monitor-Pro 5\Bin.

Edit these with notepad.  Check the settings.  The .mcl will need this new location (C:\Program Files\Monitor Pro\Monitor-Pro 5\Bin) instead of the Enterprise one.

Any other non-“your company” ‘.mei’ files in the location: ‘C:\Program Files\Monitor Pro\Monitor Pro 5\bin’ are to be deleted (there should be two of these)

Open the Admin tool (C:\Program Files\Monitor Pro\Monitor-Pro 5\Bin\SQLAdministrator.exe) and log into the server

Press “Create client db” – it will say that you have no system database.  Create one.

When this is created it will ask if you want to create a client database.  Say no.

Next press attach database and attach the database (sent before).

Now either from SQL Server or the admin tool, and run the 2 attached scripts against it.

You may need to recreate users either through the SQLAdministrator tool or through SQL Server.

Open MP-5.

Go Tools Options and set the report directory location and apply.  Now the next time you open MP-5 you will see these reports.

Go to www.businessobjects.com and download a 30 day evaluation copy of Crystal XI.

If any of the clients cannot link to the server then run Mdac_typ_2.8.exe (Microsoft Data Access Objects) from the Admin folder of the setup CD (or the Microsoft web site has the latest download.

Clients

Client PC's that have had Monitor-Enterprise on them should first uninstall this.

Run the MP-5 installation as above and set the reports directory.
