SQL Server 2000
MP-5 has been developed to be compatible with all versions of SQL Server 2000 and MSDE (The free to use database engine).
The most commonly used version is "Standard", and is the most cost-effective full installation.
The developers version does not support networking.
The Enterprise version can only be installed on Microsoft Server operating systems.
SQL Server 2000 Service packs:
SP1-3, completely compatible.
SP4 almost exclusively compatible. There is a remote possibility (that affects no installations that we have installed or are aware of) where 2 databases are present - a system database and a data database (most installations are integral in one database) and the system database has a different owner to the data database. If this is the case then the additional security in this area provided by SP4 must be switched off.
SQL Server 2005
We are currently testing this. The database compatibility wizard has revealed no issues with our databases, and subsequent use has revealed no problems.
SQL Server 7 (all versions)
The MP-5 predecessor, Monitor-Enterprise was built and designed against SQL Server 7. MP-5 has not been tested against this. MP-5 is likely to function correctly in all areas, but we cannot guarantee this.
SQL Server 6.5
Compatibility not tested. Possibility that all functions will work correctly.
Non-Microsoft SQL Servers
MP-5 has only been tested against Microsoft SQL Server. We cannot guarantee any compatibility with non-Microsoft SQL Servers.
