Details
You will find calculations in the database explorer view under tools... calculations. They all run when new data is imported, and create new data into either the same variable, or a new one as appropriate.
There are 3 types of calculations:
Aggregates
Unsurprisingly, these aggregate data and would normally send data to a separate variable. An aggregate is for example sum, max, min, count and can be set to cover a period, e.g. daily, monthly, annual.
Calculations
The difference between a calculation and an aggregate is that a calculation uses e.g. + - / or * to form an equation.
Specific calculations
Specific calculations perform a calculation and return the calculated data to a single sample point. An example of this would be electricity sub meters. The calculation might be meter 1 + meter 2 + meter 3 values all going to "master meter" sample point.
Generic calculations
Generic calculations return calculated data to the original sample point(s). An example of this would be "Head - dip reading" goes to Static water level. This might be calculated over many sample points - however the calculated record must always be stored under the sample point that the original readings were taken.
